The strange discovery by quantum physicists at the University of California Santa Barbara means that an object you can see in front of you may exist simultaneously in a parallel universe — a multi-state condition that has scientists theorizing that traveling through time may be much more than just the plaything of science fiction writers. There are other levels that exist in conjunction with the level we are experiencing now — this human, earthly level. These levels involve other aspects of our self.
Have you ever had an out of body experience or heard of them? This is when your spirit or soul leaves your physical body to travel in the next, most proximate dimension. Experienced astral travelers can experience this dimension and ones beyond. While out of body the soul or spirit can usually view the physical body as it sleeps. This begs the question: who is this traveling soul?
It is you, simply in another form. It is, therefore, another self.
Some have even seen the soul and the body at the same time, which begs another question. If there is a self viewing the physical body and the astral body that left — what self is that? It implies, obviously, that there is more than one self. More than two. So how many selves do we have? Are they infinite? And where are these selves at any given moment?
This is a subject open to conjecture and subjective opinion, obviously. BHB posits that there is another self immediately proximate which is aware of our present self.
He looks down on this; he witnesses and remembers. No name. He’s the same. He is the King of me [as I am now]. All my life he has reign over me and observes. He’s just another. Just one step up. Always someone above him; another above the King. … The thief can still be the king.
This self is aware of your self (the self occupying your present awareness). This self therefore is part of the self you are; it observes but is not God, it is simply a more proximate self. Figuratively this self is “one step up” — though the idea of actual distance is erroneous. Rather, one step up connotes a higher level of consciousness and awareness, and perhaps even a form of neutrality. Additionally, there is another self above that self and then another above that one, and so on and so forth. How many of our selves exist now simultaneously in various realities? And what are these realities?
Another question: can we inhabit the realities of these other selves by occuping these selves through meditation, lucid dreaming or out of body experiences?
What do you think?
